MEDELI’s story starts with our late founder George Cheng and his love of the guitar since high school. An alumni of Beijing’s Tsinghua University, you could hear him and his classmates playing beautiful tunes in the school grounds . In the 1980s, Mr. Cheng realized how hard it was for the growing number of keyboard players in China to afford imported electronic music instruments. A trained electrical engineer, he resolved to produce an affordable, high-quality keyboard and embarked on developing MC-3, MEDELI’s first electronic keyboard. Achieving remarkable local success soon after its launch, MC-3 birthed MEDELI’s first digital piano, drums and MIDI keyboard. With the vision of becoming a great electronic music instrument maker in the world, Cheng set up a team in 2003 to develop our own digital audio processors. Driven by focus and passion, he found excellence. Insisting on surpassing music lovers’ expectations, Cheng’s passionate leadership for 30 years has made MEDELI the hallmark of China-made electronic music instruments.
